What is Ferralium 255?
Ferralium 255 is a super duplex stainless steel with about 25% chromium, 3.5% molybdenum, 6% nickel and 2% copper. The copper improves resistance to sulphuric acid and to wear and galling, which is why it is popular for rotating pump and valve parts.
It has roughly twice the yield strength of 316L stainless, high fatigue strength, and good resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride stress-corrosion cracking.
