Hastelloy is the alloy engineers turn to when acids are too aggressive for stainless steel, duplex or even Inconel. We supply it with EN 10204 3.1 certificates and the matching filler wire.
What is Hastelloy?
Hastelloy C-276 and C-22 are nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloys. Their high molybdenum content resists hydrochloric and sulphuric acids and pitting in chlorides; their chromium resists oxidising media such as ferric and cupric chlorides and wet chlorine.
C-22 has more chromium than C-276, which gives it better resistance in oxidising conditions and to localised attack. C-276 remains the standard choice for mixed reducing acids and flue-gas desulphurisation.
