Nobel Weld is a zirconium 702 supplier for Zr 702 (UNS R60702) and Zr 705 (UNS R60705) sheet, plate, pipe and lining material. Zirconium is used in acetic and formic acid plants and in hot sulphuric and hydrochloric acid service where titanium and stainless steels fail.
Our partners have fabricated and repaired zirconium equipment, and weld it with ERZr2 and ERZr4 wire under the same reactive-metal shielding we use for titanium.
What is zirconium 702?
Zr 702 is commercially pure zirconium (zirconium plus hafnium at least 99.2%). Like titanium it forms a protective oxide film, but it also resists reducing acids, including hydrochloric and sulphuric acid up to high concentrations, and boiling formic and acetic acid. Zr 705 adds niobium for higher strength and easier forming.

Zirconium is as sensitive to oxygen and nitrogen as titanium when hot. We weld it with trailing shields, back purge and weld colour acceptance, and supply ERZr2 (for Zr 702) and ERZr4 (for Zr 705) filler wire.
